The purpose of the Houston County Public Library System is to offer a full program of library services of all citizens of Houston County and the surrounding communities in order to meet their informational, educational and recreational needs.
The Houston County Public Library System became a member of the Georgia Library PINES System in 1999.
Georgia Library PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services) is the public library automation and lending network for 281 libraries and service outlets in 53 library systems covering 143 counties. PINES creates a statewide “borderless library” that provides equal access to information for all Georgians. Georgians with a PINES library card can enjoy the benefits of a shared collection of 9.6 million books and other materials that can be delivered to their home library free of charge. If you are a resident of Georgia, you are eligible to receive a PINES library card.
The PINES system effectively turns the state of Georgia into one huge library and you can return your items to any PINES library in the state.
